Paul Rubin

March 02, 1942 - June 29, 2020

Paul Rubin, 78, died peacefully on June 29, 2020, at Essentia Health in Fargo.

Paul was born on March 2, 1942, in Grand Forks, ND, to Miles and Corrine Rubin.

He was raised in Grand Forks and attended Roosevelt Elementary and South Jr High schools before graduating from Grand Forks Central in 1960, where he excelled in basketball. He married Rebecca Evenson in 1965, and they had two children, Brenna and Joseph. Paul also played competitive softball and even participated in the Pan-Am Games. He continued to support GFC and UND sports throughout his life. Paul was a switchman for Burlington Northern where he worked for 30 years before retiring at 60 years old.

Paul enjoyed a simple life, and especially being with his family...he was dedicated to them. His family was particularly blessed by his acts of kindness, care and love. Paul was a quiet man but he was a fixture around town. He loved North Dakota. He was always described as a friendly guy people liked to visit with. He usually talked about sports and the weather, and how proud he was of his family.

Paul will be greatly missed by his loved ones, especially by his wife, Rebecca; their two children, Brenna Miles (son-in-law, Scott Miles) & Joseph (Jennifer Fewless); his grandson, Reagan (Miles) 14; and his twin sister, Rosalie (Sanders).

He is preceded in death by his parents, Miles and Corrine; and his brother, David.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made out to the ND Alzheimer's Association...the disease that has afflicted Paul's wife, Rebecca, and sent to Maple View, 4650 S. Washington St, Grand Forks, ND 58201 (in memo please note: in honor of Paul & Rebecca Rubin). Thank you.

A private memorial service will be held for Paul at the Historic Norman Funeral Home in Grand Forks. An Open House will be held at Joe Blacks on Sat, Sept 26, from 4:30pm to 7pm. We invite you to stop by anytime to celebrate Paul.
