Mary Kittle (Honea) VIEW PROFILE

Mary E. Honea

Sept. 11, 1942 - April 8, 2014

Mary E. Honea, 71, of Grand Forks, died Tuesday, April 8th at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester, MN.

Mary was born September 11, 1942, in Grand Forks, ND, the daughter of Evelyn (Crow) and Joseph Kittle. She grew up and attended schools in Grand Forks, graduating from Central High School. She later attended the University of North Dakota and then received a degree in dental hygiene from the North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton. Mary married Jerry Honea December 16, 1967 at Grace Baptist Church in Grand Forks. Together they made their home in Fargo and Arkansas before making their permanent home in Grand Forks.

She worked as a dental hygienist before starting a new career as a realtor with Fladland Real Estate and later Crary Real Estate. She retired in 2009.

Mary loved God above all else, and delighted in His creations throughout her lifetime. She had a special place in her heart for Maui and the humpback whales. She also treasured her time at Lake Lida, trolling on the pontoon, and watching the birds and sunsets. Mary and Jerry traveled annually, often visiting family and friends. Even more than chocolate, Mary loved and cherished her children and grandchildren. Despite her feisty exterior, it was no secret how much love Mary had for the children who God placed in her care. She was a spectacular soprano, and is surely an amazing addition to God's angel choir.

Mary is survived by her husband, Jerry; children, Matt Honea of Minneapolis, MN, Sarah (Joe) Ring of Fargo; grandchildren, Jessica, Taylor and Jacob and a brother, Robert Kittle of Grand Forks.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, James.
