Andrew Hoghaug

Andrew "Andy" Maurice Hoghaug, 61, 65 Parkview Circle, Grand Forks, died Friday, February 20, 2004 in Altru Hospital, Grand Forks.

Andrew was born May 20, 1942 to Maurice and Martha (Langslet) Hoghaug in Ft. Smith, Arkansas, where Dr. Hoghaug was stationed in the U.S. Army Dental Corps.  While Dr. Hoghaug was serving in Europe and Japan, Andrew lived in Modesto, California with his mother and brother Tom for 2 years.  They moved to Detroit Lakes, Minnesota until Dr. Hoghaug opened an orthodontic practice in Grand Forks, North Dakota.  He attended Lincoln and Belmont Elementary Schools in Grand Forks.  Andrew played hockey on the championship park board team (The Flying Ringworms).  Ringworm caps, not helmets, covered all their heads.  He attended Central High School where he sang in the Boy's Chorus, and acted in several plays.  After graduating from Central High School, he spent some time at Bottineau School of Forestry, Wahpeton School of Science, and UND.  He worked in Madison, Wisconsin for a few years before returning to farm with his father on land south of Lakota, North Dakota on Stump Lake.  Andy sang in the Grand Forks Barbershop, and the Cathedral Choir of United Lutheran Church, and was a member of Sons of Norway.  Andy was an avid hunter and fisherman, and he enjoyed traveling.  Dear Andy, we loved you so much, and we will miss you.

Andy is survived by his mother, Martha Hoghaug-Glasoe, and his step-father, Dr. Paul Glasoe of Grand Forks; an aunt, Ann Lee of Minneapolis, Minnesota.  Cousins, Marie Ann (Paul) White, Englewood, Colorado, Dr. Barbara Lee, Minneapolis, Minnesota, Linda Lee (David) Arnoldy, presently in Ukranika, Erin Zahora, Scottsdale, Arizona, Peter White, Costa Mesa, California, Jon (Cindy) Hoghaug, Redlands, California, Jean Hoghaug Rustand, Pensacola, Florida, James (Georgia) Hoghaug, Gig Harbor, Washington, George (Marilyn) Hoghaug, Shorewood, Minnesota, Thomas (Jean) Hoghaug, Chanhassen, Minnesota.  He was preceded in death by his brother, John Thomas Hoghaug, and his father, Dr. Maurice Hoghaug

Services were held Tuesday, February 24, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. United Lutheran Church, Grand Forks, North Dakota.
